speaking of...
So in an effort to be fair, the reason Mike Pruitt has such a hard time spelling and such an easy time talking, its because he is half drunk all the time. He is trying to kick it, ever wonder why he is ALWAYS stopping for coffee and wanting to eat lunch at 10:30am?
sundays can be nice after all
Ahhhh. What a chill day off. I woke up after yesterdays ride and was completely drained. I havent felt that for a while. Had a great breakfast and eventually made it down to seward park for the state crit championships. All I had to do was watch, though. Oh thats nice. Sat on the curb, ate my sandwich, and watched Conville take on his first crit and it was good to see the pain and suffering on his face. He finished in the field and considering he has had a bit of trouble going downhills for a couple months, good job for him. He is studying in this picture how to stay on a wheel or make some kind of sausage from sheeps testicles. All I know is my ass still hurts from that ride saturday.

flying wheels 140
Today was the flying wheels summer century starting in Marymoor Park. Noted absenties this year:Randy Boettcher, Mike Pruitt, Matt Hubbard, Jason Wolff. I decided to ride out there to get in the necessary miles to feel comfortable doing STP in one day this year. Plus it was going to be a nice day. I didnt feel all that great in the morning which made me a bit nervous for the 7th hour in the ride. I met Geoffrey and Todd, who was dressed up in his randoneers extra long wool jersey. I told him I was convinced that in order to be a randoneer, you had to drop 15lbs, buy retro parts, and wear the required xlong jersey. He didnt think it was too funny. We headed out in cool weather and going hard like one tends to do in the first bit of a big ride and then after geoffrey and I bitched at eachother about who is always doing the driving, we settled in. We allowed about 2 minutes per rest stop except the monroe stop to eat lunch. It wasnt too much farther than that down the road, just by Willies Greens organic farm, that Todd completely unraveled. So I told him to sit on and I continued to go pretty hard cause we had a good group going at this point. Needless to say, he took a short cut home and is probly still trying to recover. Thats what happens if you dont eat! About 15 miles later Geoffrey and I started to run empty and shoved as much food, water, and gel into our faces before we got to that bitch of a climb. I think I would like that climb if I ever get to do it without being at the 100 mile mark of the day. The only real drag of the day was the ride back on the trail. There is a record number of roots out there now, if anyone hasnt noticed, and they beat up what was left of my ass the whole rest of the way home. As I got to the tdf hill, my wheels fell off. I thought I was going to have to stop at one point and at the top I was dizzy. Now to recover.

holy crap!
So this is after Conville, Geoffrey, and I got done with our centurion last weekend. Lets hope I fair better tomorrow. I blame this condition on Mike Pruitt and the fact that he steals my cats toys and therefore he wants to play all night.
Another day, another shift
So today I recovered from thursday night at seward park. Some actually go out and race that but my goal last night was to say hi to some friends and to not get lapped more than twice. Only took one free lap, so mission accomplished. Got to ride home and talk about borrowing money for the rest of my life. I was going to finish on tour de france but I cheated and went up 40th. It was still hard. Not as bad as wednesday when I was coming home on the backside of juanita feeling good about myself and the tempo I was riding when this dude came by in gym shorts, pedal baskets, and a camel back. Holy crap! Sometimes its good to get humbled. Stuff that, it was a bit humiliating. I worked all day in Chris Conville's kitchen making a couple variations of risottos, and stuffing beef tenderloins. We talked too. I ate a buritto way too fast but the white sauce was good. I did, however, get to eat some fantastic Copper River King salmon tonight for dinner. I Seared some sweet potato cubes, dressed some rice noodles, thai basil, and some shredded veg with a light zinger of a vin, and used that to top the salmon. We'll see how that treats me on the flying wheels 140 tomorrow. I am riding it with Geoffrey Crofoot and it should prove to be a good one. I dont think he has ridden since the last centurion we did. I just hope the rain holds out.I will eat some ice cream tonight to help me sleep and get up tomorrow early to see some of the soccer match then roll out.
