ready, set, blog

Whatever. I havent set foot on this site for quite a while. What's new to those who dont follow. Ill tell you. Maybe not. Too much to tell. We'll do little bits at a time. Right now, I can tell you I am enjoying a nice bottle of Delille cellars 06 syrah. And I am a lightweight so it only takes a couple glasses of this one to hit me. This pic is from Paul's epic pig roast. Started cooking the pig at 7am. Started drinking PBR at 9am at breakfast. Drove my first jet ski at almost 60mph! FYI, that is smoking fast on the water. Ate WAY too much pork. I actually layed down after that picture to try and alliviate the discomfort but it didnt work. The only consolation is that I wasnt the most pickled person there. That goes to the girl behind me, MJ, who impressed all with her apparent consumption. Life goes on as a chef. Goes even nicer with a night off.

its about time

I am sure no one has been checking this for quite a while and although I have lots to report, there will be no such reporting at this time. My time as of late has been taken up with work. I have been succeeding at riding my bike three or four times a week to work and at least once on the weekend. Which brings me to my next point, Sarah Palin.
Really, is this what we will have to look foward to if McCain somehow makes it to office? I might throw myself off the perverbial aurora bridge if this happens. More on that later. Mushroom season is upon us, at least, chanterelles are. I have yet to find some of the others. But I love this time of year for those golden beauties.

Its casseroll time

Yes, I think its finally that time of the year. Big sweaters, long johns under my jeans, knit hats, and hot chocolate. Now if I could just find my mojo. The pic is of the EPIC that Randy, Geoffrey, and myself went on three mondays ago. The last nice day of the year it seems. 115 miles in under 6 hours. Oh yeah, and thats off the couch for all of us.

However the pie cherries....

Here's the thing about pie cherries. They will give you gas. They will make your gut hurt. If you eat more than a pound in a given span of time, they will make you suffer the next morning. Specifically a 200 mile ride to Portland. More specifically a 200 mile ride to Portland with dudes that want to rip your legs off. Even more specifically a 200 mile ride to Porland with dudes that want to rip your legs off, not having the legs to match and a tandem that just screws it up even more. But that was last year. This year, no such ride. No pie cherries, no bolognese, no garage, no firecrackers, no sunburn, no fried chicken salad, no sore legs.

This year I've got my own special Dr. Ball, I'm not getting up at 3am, I have a great new job with fresh new faces, I eat Bings and Rainiers, I own my own condo instead of renting, Steve has mellowed out, I do still have problems with my plum, Dura ace 10 speed with sweet new wheels. Shall I go on?

Here's to the second half. Here's to your second half as well.

my favorite one yet

There are many excuses out there for doping. It was for my dog- I enjoyed that one. My mother takes it- cowardly. Its my girlfriends- again cowardly. But this morning I came across the best one yet.

-German Ivonne Kraft has tested positive for the asthma medication Fenoterol after a cyclo-cross race on May 6. The German federation (BDR) has opened proceedings against the 36 year-old, deciding not to wait for the B sample. She faces a six-month suspension.

In a statement, Kraft said that her mother, who suffers from asthma, attended the race, and when she tried to use her medicated spray the bottle exploded and the cyclist must have inhaled the substance at that time.-

That made my day.
